The Barrel House Cooker is an exciting new product out of Bakersfield, CA that was engineered and designed by a team of BBQ enthusiasts who have worked together for over a decade. It is the latest product from a manufacturing company that has produced 55 years of top-quality consumer goods — along with American jobs.
The goal in designing the Barrel House Cooker was to improve and simplify the process of making great, smoked BBQ. We took our inspiration from Ugly Drum Smokers, which traditionally create juicy, pit-style meat with very little user interaction, but wanted a new barrel style that was easier to use, smaller in format, and made from high-quality materials.
It was very important to us that the new cooker stay within a certain temperature range for hours on end without messing with it, make clean-up easy, and fit into the lives of anyone that used it. After months and months of prototype testing — and of course lots of eating — we produced a barrel cooker we are incredibly proud of.
For the name, we wanted to reference something unique about Bakersfield where the cookers are produced. When we came across the name Tex's Barrel House we instantly took to it.
Tex’s Barrel House was one of several honky tonk bars where the “Bakersfield Sound” in country music came to be. Honky tonks like Tex’s Barrel House were frequented by the likes of Buck Owens and Merle Haggard, and, since our factory sits right off Merle Haggard Boulevard, it seemed to be a perfect fit.
We’re excited to share Barrel House with you, and truly believe you will enjoy it as much as we do!
